Director’s statement
The Good Mother is a fictional psychological horror rooted in a deep emotional truth: the love, resilience, and sacrifice of immigrant mothers. Inspired by the strength of my own mother, the film explores how care can turn into obsession when fear, isolation, and overwhelming pressures converge. Though the story descends into darkness, it is ultimately about a woman desperately trying to protect her children in a world she feels she cannot control. It’s a horror story, yes, but also a love story, born from reverence for the women who carry the weight of survival on their shoulders. And it asks: what happens when those women are pushed to the edge by systems that were never built to support them?
